Hi,
Anyone still use CB’s out there? I’m gonna get one for the sole purpose of feeling incomplete without one, but I think it would be a good way of gathering information about what’s in front of you on the road, etc. What’s your experience been nowadays?
Best regards, John

waste of money.
in later years, straight out of the box cb radio's.
yes, i still even have mine, may very well smash them up and toss them into the trash as well.
do not spend more than say about $150 for one, try to stay UNDER that price. they are always on sale.BackwoodsGA, 650cat425 and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -

If you're not a guy that runs with other trucks regularly and you dont have to be heard nationwide, an off the shelf cobra 29 or uniden equivalent is all you need. Get a decent antenna and good coax, you're in business. Also, a good noise cancelling mic like a road king 56 will go a long way in making sure people understand what you're saying. Put all that together and you probably have around $200-250 invested.

i have a cobra classic 25. (non-weather radio)..
it is smaller, fits into tighter places than the 29.

I put together a cb setup with my loves points... they have a uniden in their for 89 dollars. They sell 2 antennas for 29 dollars . Get a swr meter if radio doesnt have one. Ive gone thru like 4 antennas this year. Either braking off in ice fog or lost them to tree limbs. Its a crapp setup but does the job. Running in and out of the quarry i can hear the loaders as soon as i turn off the road and the are at top of mountain about 3 miles out...thats really about all u need.

I still run my 44 Galaxy, with a Ranger mic.
Every now and again, someone tells you of in incident, most you won’t hear of until it’s to late, but my radio is on every time my truck starts. -
