That doesn't even compare to the other sights Utah has to offer but no opportunity to stop and take a pic.

    Idaho still tops it IMO.

While I was standing there looking at the river I heard a hellacious loud CRACK. I look up and some wacko had just jumped off the bridge and was parachuting down.

I wouldn't worry about miles just see if you like the Industry first research the different types of freight and what you might like to pull. First company is usually just a greeting card.

Maverick doesn't do that. I spend months out at a time and take 2+ weeks off if I want to. Once I took a 30 day vacation to the Philippines, came back and the shop did the PM on the truck, all my stuff still in there. Maybe it helped that I had one of the older trucks at the time too but they said don't worry about it.

I work for a small family owned company... I don't make the name widely available to just anyone.

With as little as I know of starter companies... I would probably select Roehl or Schnieder of those you listed. But as I said I don't know much about starter companies. I pretty much taught myself to drive truck (with a little instruction from my dad), then when the opportunity appeared for a former employer to pay for me to take the CDL tests I jumped at it.

I have had absolutely ZERO formal schooling or training that pertains to driving truck. And what my dad taught me took about 15 mins before he told me "You will either figure it out, or you will crash. Don't crash my truck." At which time he got out and turned me loose with the truck... I wasn't even 10 years old at the time. By the time I got my CDL in 2013 I had already been driving truck for about over 15 years.

By time I decided to got OTR I had had my CDL for 4 years, and had enough unofficial experience that a friend of my family hired me without a single question. He tossed me the keys, said there's your truck, go pee in this cup... when do you want to go out for your first run?

Nope, Roehl, then Schneider would be the first ones to scratch off the list without a second thought.

Tmc and Maverick are good co's. They will teach you proper securement (some of it is beyond necessary). But be ready to tarp everything.

There's going to be micromanagement at any starter co because until you have time out there on the road, you dont know nothin about nothin, or "you don't even know what you don't know".
