Correct, they opened for one class but closed back down. They haven't announced when they are going reopen. I will update again when they inform us they are reopening.

Well guess that slows my time line down lol
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Maybe check to see if they will hire you if you get your CDL from another source? My local community college offers a class that only costs $2000 out of pocket. Some companies even offer reimbursement up to $X,XXX and just place you in with a trainer for their preferred amount of time.Jenn72 Thanks this.

Thanks. FFE training is reopened. This post was from when the pandemic 1st started. I have worked here for a few yrs. This was for wasted thyme who was looking to train there.

Jenn... So you're still liking FFE after the "few years"? I think you posted elsewhere what you were able to make in the first year -- were you able to reasonably increase that, now that you have more experience with them? FFE is on a short list of companies I'd like to move to after CDL school and getting some experience with my "starter company". Driving their linehaul terminal-to-terminal is very appealing to me.
-
Yes, I still like FFE. Their pay has increased. A new driver w/out any experience starts out at $0.50 a mile.
Like I have said in my other post, the 1st 6 months as a newbie you will get the short loads, but will the have the chance to help out local & regional while waiting for a linehaul load. (Linehaul leaves Thurs - Sun) Do it! It pays well (by the hour) and shows them your a team player & want to work. -
Thanks!... Yeah, I remember seeing you type that before... After about 6 mo. to a year with FFE, is that about the time one can expect the longer, maybe even "cross-country" linehaul loads?
And after that initial year (or two) with the company, roughly how much do you think a solo, linehaul driver can make (with the new pay rate or structure)? -
Yes, I know solo (linehaul) drivers that average 600+ miles a day. They get the cross country loads. (NJ - Denver, NJ -Portland, Fl - Ca)
Last yr (2020) a solo driver I know w/ 1.5 yrs experience made $64k. He avg 120k miles & helped out local/regional. The raise that took effect in Jan bumped his pay up $0.10 a mile. If he does the same mileage (120k) that is a $12k raise a yr. So in 2021 w/ everything being the same he would make $76k. -
Thank you for all the detailed info!... You've given me a lot to think about.Jenn72 Thanks this.
