Otter, You are 100% correct. Staying on top of it is easier than trying to dig yourself out.

Production materials can change, but it’s the way tires age and heat cycle. Imagine a tire that sits for 4-5 months in Arizona, and one just 6 weeks old. Much like heat treating steel then quenching it in water a tire can be heat cycled. Each time the tire is heated and allowed to cool it will most likely get harder. The tire that’s in AZ and exposed to summer temps can have a different durometer.

The other part of the issue is UV exposure...leading to rubber degradation and side wall cracking.

All in all, In my experience I always try to get tires from the same batch. It can eliminate some questions, or not.

I raced motocross and then Superbikes. I worked as a tire tech at the tracks and as tire vendor to help offset my racing expenses.

I was told no weights on the wheel with centramatics.

Well, about this 2019 "spare" they got me in this week........

On the outbound leg, headed toward Chicago on I-65 in Indiana, a minivan cuts in front of me.

There's an electronic beeping sound on the dash, and the display shows what looks like a graphic of the back of a minivan, surrounded by a square reticle.

"Cool!" I think to myself, "I have MISSILE LOCK!"

So I start pressing all the unmarked buttons on the dash and steering wheel, trying to find the firing button. (None of them are red, and no one told me how to fire the missles.)

So, a little farther along, a car in front of me slows down to take the exit, and I'm moving a little left to keep from hitting their bumper if they suddenly stop.

I get MISSILE LOCK again, but this time the brakes come on, too. Not a total brake slam, but much more aggressively than I would have applied them, had I FELT THE NEED TO DO SO.

Aw crap....I'm in a truck with Electronic Collision Avoidance.

So of course it's beeping almost continuously through Chicago, and Indianapolis, and Atlanta, and Cincinnati on the way back.

Now, so far I don't like it. But I made up my mind when I first heard about this crap I'm gonna give it a fair try and learn how to use it, instead of beating on the TM's desk screaming "I refuse" this and "I insist" that. My TM told me all the trucks we order are going that way, and it is only a matter of time before we all get one.

I learned how to get the best out of my Volvo I-Shift in all weather. I'll try with this, too.

"Collision Avoidance" is still MY job.

Having said that, I put out another mechanic application this week.

Sorry for the long post, but it was the only way I could slow you guys down so I can catch up!:D

BTW, Why will "North America never be the same" on Sunday?o_O

It's under the RED toggle switch......flip it up to arm, hit cruse twice to launch.
Don't feel bad. It actually took me a couple of weeks to figure it out.
And this is something that people won't just tell you.
