    SORRY THIS MAY BE LONG
Been a minute since I updated about me. I did a year at Crum Trucking out of Batesville Indiana. Great company great pay, SMALL mom and pop company, all the office personal know you by name. The ONLY reason I left the company was to pursue a HOME Daily job with a contractor for Fed Ex. Only issue is I needed double/triple endorsements. Left Crum March 20th, had planned on going to get my endorsements on the 23rd. Got to the DMV (In Kentucky the State Police have dedicated troopers for testing) was a sign on the door that stated due to COVID 19 all testing had been suspended. Fortunately wife is a nurse, so stayed home and finished NTI home schooling the kids. Still looked for a job but wasn't in a hurry. Came across J&R Schugel actually on facebook, reached out to a recruiter and got some general information from them and then reached out and talked to a couple actual drivers. They are headquartered in New Ulm Minnesota with several yards throughout the US. If you don't live near a yard you are responsible for parking the truck and trailer in a secure location. I found a place 2 miles from the house.
They have SEVERAL different routes one can drive, and since I spent enough time with Crum in North East Region I decided to go with the South East Region, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky with the occasional pick up out of Cincinnati (convenient for me since I live 15 mins south of Cincinnati). Showed up to their Terminal in Columbus Ohio (they rented me a car even though it's only an hour and half for me to drive) stay at the La Quinta inn ( however do to the fun pandemic their breakfast was closed and their pool was closed if that's important to you) Monday you spend doing new hire paperwork, policy procedure, and then drug screen and one guy had to RE-DO his DOT, Tuesday finished up any paperwork and get assigned DM, I went and called my DM and talked about doing the South east regional run, he said "I guess you want to be home on weekends huh?" I said truth be told if we are being honest, I would love to be home DAILY but since that isn't possible weekends for now will be great. He said "Actually you may be in luck, we are actually starting a new account that runs out of Jeffersonville Indiana to Florence Kentucky with the occasional trip across the road to Louisville, is that something you would be interested in? You would be in your own bed every night. Got my truck Wednesday Morning 2015 KW T680 Manual Transmission which I was exited about, only has 425,000 miles which is WAY less then Crums trucks. My first 3 weeks actually was on the south east regional run helping out while couple drivers where on vacation, other then that been home daily LOVING my job, making good money. Really enjoy the job and the company is great, some minor hiccups but nothing unexpected or that can't be easily rectifiable. That is all for now I guess, stay safe on the road

    I can concur
I drove for Schugel and liked them and I would have probably stayed but for 1 problem that I had so I decided to rejoin another great company that I had previously drove for.

I used to work for Schugel back in 2013-2015. Sounds like a lot has changed since they absorbed Super Service. We had no regular customers in Kentucky, no SE regional, and the only dedicated account they had was Kraft. There were a couple minor issues that persuaded me into moving on, but overall I liked driving for them, and they never did me wrong. Sounds like they’re a good fit for you. Hope you enjoy your time there, and be safe!

I was thinking about going to Magnum but you may have changed my mind.

I love that they run 10 speeds. I'm not thrilled about getting in an automatic.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Super rare . He just got lucky

When I worked for them they were 100% manual Freightliner Cascadias , International Pro Stars , KW T680 and KW T660 in every color under the rainbow .

The brand new trucks coming in were all automated though ; then came the drive cams . I can't knock a company for trying to grow

Right before I left they had me do a yard hostling / shuttling job in Atlanta filling in for a guy that was gone for 2 weeks .

I'm glad they're working out for you
