New owner operator and I was wondering how it was for you guys that have been doing it a while. Currently I’m leased with a company in Arizona that leases me a tanker and I receive 70% of the load pay. I deliver to the same location everyday it’s local and it’s not bad except it has been slow for the last couple of months. I see others finding loads online and delivering but I don’t know how difficult it is. Currently I don’t have any trailer only my truck. Any tips or info on how it is if I were to try doing that myself.

Well.
A new trailer payment is $717.49/ month for a $35k trailer.
Plus 12% for FET on new trailer, bringing cost up to $39k.
Insurance, interstate, non HM for everything ends up being $14k for first year.
They’ll quote you around $9500-9900.
But then that is truck w/o trailer.
So without a truck payment, you’ll need around $2120/month just for payments without fuel cost included.
Some loads I get 97.5%, some 87.5% 2.5% is factoring fee, some brokers take 10% then a 2.5% factoring fee or it’s 30-60 and I’ve seen 90+ days to be paid.
There’s you an idea of cost. -
Trailer payment is going to be determined by apr, term, and cost/wagon type, it might be $500, it might be $1200, lots of factors
you show me whew I can get insurance for 14k in the first year and i will stock your beer fridge until the end of the year, your about 10k shy.HoneyBadger67 Thanks this. -

24k? Are you hauling space shuttles?

What about fuel cost? Do you get a discount through anyone or are you just paying whatever the truck stops offer? Here I can get fuel for 1.77 five or take through a discount with Phoenix fuels.

There's so many different factors that will determine how much you'll pay at first. Start contacting agents and get quotes, one things for sure, it's gonna be up there...

Do you have a mileage limit? I’m unlimited with 1mil general 100k cargo with unlimited miles, staying under 500 or 100 would of been a big drop.
most mom and pop stores are within a few cents if not cheaper then a chain with a “discount”, I use my capitol one card and get 1% back on whatever I buyCoffey and Rideandrepair Thank this.
