Tire Shortage Due To Coronavirus?

It's been pretty much a shortage of pretty much everything lately.

Gonna save lotsa money for Xmas this year if inventory don't start coming around.

 

Actually, I bought 4 tires this past week off the National account. I was told by the salesman that they cannot sell them retail for the time being because of a shortage. I made a lot of phone calls looking for 24.5’s... well, that weren’t double coins!!!

 

Chinese made tires only cover 17% of the new tire market. Now more cheap Chinese are being sold due to less money in the bank for truckers during this shut down. The shortage may be the fact that what most dealers normally sell is 90% chinese so they have no real buying power to get tier 1 premium brands. Then they are stuck with low stock and and weak supply.
The only shortage I’m hearing about in our area is the slight slow down of sales due to less people driving around however the earlier shut down and stay home mandates in this area only took maybe 1/3 of the vehicles of the road so hauling and warehousing tires never stopped even tho our hours were reduced for more home time.

 

Just put new 24.5 steers and drivers on this week. I didn't hear a peep about low inventory or supply chain problems. I walked through the racks of tires and there certainly wasn't a shortage from what I could see.

I stand corrected

 

Some tire production was slowed or stopped because of Auto production.
Not sure about truck tires. TA just had or has a sale on Firestone

 

I'm having a time finding normal sheet size paper towel...all the Walmarts I have been to have those stupid split sheet/select a size rolls...I hate those. I either get a half a sheet when I want a full sheet, or I get a sheet and a half.

 

I just bought a case of the full size. These are 2-ply and 9x11 sheets. Ordered them online from Walmart Shopping Online. Shipping is free if order is $35.00 or more.
