Ok. Started out with what I thought was a bad starter, getting the clicking from the relay and solenoid. Replaced the starter, not fixed, replaced relay, starter button, batteries and alternator. Still not fixed. Any thoughts?? I am at a loss.

Did you clean all the cable connections? How about the Big ground to frame?

Grounds.
Rideandrepair, 062, jamespmack and 1 other person Thank this. -
Is the clicking noise coming from the starter or from the solenoid mounted on the firewall. Sitting in drivers seat it can be hard to distinguish between the two.
Solenoid on firewall is mounted by the wiper motor above the steering wheel shaft.
Good luckRideandrepair and Dino soar Thank this. -
X3etra is right the sol. is under a lot of wires and when you clear out the wires and find the starter sol. on the firewall its just 2 bolts and 2 wires that must be unbolted from sol. before you take the sol. off the firewall? Their is a ground cable from the eng. to the frame on the pass. side on some year trucks, but clean the large ground cable from the batt. to the frame near the batt. box.

He said he replaced the selinoid already. Chances are one of the wires is broken, inside the insulation, at the eyelet. I’ve seen it often. Mine did that. I replaced the ends with good heavy eyelets, crimped, soldered, Heat shrinked liquid taped, and shrink wrapped it all again with a sleeve. Now it’s very heavy duty. Should never corrode again.
