Start off with straps and winch bar. Cheaper to buy. If you have to. There's plenty of strap loads out there.

Work your way up to chains and binders and tarps.

Straps used to be $11 in my hood at any truck or trailer dealer.

Don't know about the rest of country or the going rate today for straps.

Buy em in the city. Not the sticks. Too expensive in the sticks.

Tarp stop sells a box of 10 for 100 dollars.. Get 2 and a half boxes... 2, 4 ft tarps with flap for 500 total. Throw in a winch bar. Ur set up and ready to roll for 75 percent of flatbed freight out there for less than 1 grand in equipment .Add chains when u get some money together u dont need them right away. Pickup old mudflaps in truckstops for edge protection. U will collect stuff along the way. Dont buy the tarps and u could be set up for 500 dollars or less... if u really want all brand new equipment. I got all new equipment this year for about 4k. 25Straps, winch bar, 2, 8ft drop tarps. 12 chains n binders 3/8. Plastic corner protectors . Added some coil racks, dunnage, and 4ft tarps along the way. It aint cheap but is more managable if u start out with just the basics... no idea if landstar would finance you but i wouldnt see why not

My question would be... If you are so tight on money that you cant afford to buy a few straps, tarps, and chains... How do you pay for fuel????
