Got a call back from a recruiter there. The job title was simply “Class A Driver.” The posting said: “ Class A Drivers perform duties associated with picking up hazmat and non-hazmat waste at customer locations and transporting to a Clean Harbors disposal facility; this position will make multiple stops per day and may also require overnight travel for runs out of state.”
Anyone know about this position/company? Pay? Union? Shifts? Etc?
The day-in-a-life of a driver video said 50-60 hrs a week. Is this accurate?

Been to one(1) clean harbors facility.
Never again, and I was just delivering.
A tanker load of hazardous materials, that a year and a few months before I had dropped at a paper mill in Alabama.
They never paid for it, broke the seals, tried to unload it, spilled some.
Then didn’t touch it.
The product when wet changed into a sulfuric acid cloud.
So, a guy from Stolt (the isotank company) A police officer and a representative of the company that owned the product met me at the paper mill, I took the product to be incinerated.
The company rep put a huge padlock on the dome lid, and external valve and gave me the key.
Told me I had to unlock it, but I could keep the locks.
I got them at the house somewhere, looked like this, just a little rougher shape.
It took 2.5 weeks to burn it, as they could only do so much per day.
The product rep told me if I seen a yellow cloud coming out of the tank, to run upwind.
I told him I’d I seen a yellow cloud spewing from the tank, that was the people behind me problem, I wasn’t stopping.
He said if that tank busted, It’d have killed everyone within100 miles that breathed it.
So why did this paper mill order 2 tanker loads to just sit there?
No one knows.
But 2.5 weeks parked there sucked, yes I could bobtail to go eat, but had to move the trailer around if they needed, which was every day.Ke6gwf, Nolelover61, alds and 1 other person Thank this. -
Haz waste can be fun and deadly....There was just a 'shelter in place' order for a release of a chemical in a local town.
I knew the chemical, I helped the NJ DEP run a toxic release drill at the plant in the 90's and shortly later we hauled that chemical mixed with flammables to an incinerator in LA. The plant re-worked all the safety devices prior to loading the waste which was transported by team drivers.
The team was trained by the plant prior to the starting and were told that the incinerator was NOT to draw a sample from the tank.
Well that plant went on shutdown and a load was sent to their incinerator in Texas where, despite the drivers protests, they wanted to draw a sample even after the team insisted they be allowed to move to a safer place first.
The tech cracked open the dome and a large blue flame immediately burst out as long as it took for him to slam the dome shut again. The drivers said the tech left quickly, probably had to get some clean undies. -
HiramKingWilliams Thanks this.

Alright, thanks. It sounds a little subpar.
