Here is my personal opinion. I work for FFE (KLLM sister co) and have for a couple of years. I have 2 sons that drove for Raider. (One lasted a year and quit on his anniversary, the other quit after 9 months)

Raider's pay is a lot lower than KLLM. Their trucks are regulated at 58. To receive their fuel bonus you have to drive 55 and no idling. They have cameras and they do watch them. Truck maintenance is good, they drive Volvo's. Both of their trucks had inverters w/ no fridge. No Ca.

KLLM trucks are freightliners and KW's. They are regulated to 62 mph w/ passmart. They do have cameras. (Never been called in, so don't know if they watch them. Was told if you have a critical event) They allow you unlimited idle. Newer trucks all have inverters and fridges. Older trucks it is hit and miss w/ inverters, but they are getting rid of those every month. (My 1st 2015 didn't, shop installed one I bought. 2nd 2015 had inverter already. Used my own fridges. 3rd truck is a 2020) Will drive in Ca.

Schools. Raider- My son say it was a joke. If they liked you, you learned enough to pass. They cared more about the grant from the gov. (This was 3 years ago) OTR training. One son had a decent trainer. My others son's trainer was going through a divorce. He was home more than out driving.

Kllm/FFE most of the trainers at the school wanted you to learn and pass. OTR trainers. Some are good, some only are doing it for the money unfortunately. They will put you with another trainer w/out any problems.

Do you have a choice to work out of? I live 1.5 hrs away from the winter haven FFE terminal. What are the chances of getting a regional position for someone starting out?

I know some who have gotten regional right away, but it has been at all the other terminals. A year ago I inquired about local/regional out of Winter Haven. They had no openings.

I know two drivers that do regional out of Atlanta (they live in Fl), when it is time for home time they give them a load to Winter Haven.

You can call and ask to speak to the terminal manager. He will tell if there are any openings.

@Rickey Rozay 708 I was going to update some of Jenn's info. I drive for Raider & probably make better money than 90% of company drivers out there. Trucks are gov @60MPH. And yes, encourage you to drive 55mph for top Fuel Bonus. I know the speed sucks & its dumb, but if you play the system you can earn 51-52cpm & run 2700-3,000 miles per week.
Raider's layover pay is unmatched in rhe industry & 34's are paid here.

As for the school notes... The school has been totally re organized with a new director & school location. Its 10x better than the school Jenn's sons went to & I went to. New Director has his #### together.

Wish you well in your choice but I don't think its even a question - Raider > KLLM

That's good! These companies should pay it, but unfortunately the ones that do are few & far between.
