I call today on a load, the broker offers me $100 more than my offer?

Does this mean I'm so cheap the broker actually feels bad for me?

The broker was thrilled to get the load moved so quick and gave me a $100 bonus?

    What am I missing???

For the time I was brokering. If I got a driver below my desired profit and could give him a bonus to keep me in mind for my future loads. I would be happy to give it.

So your offer was lower than he expected. Doesn't make you cheap. Unless you were really cheap LOL

He probably got it for $500 more, and give you $100 more, you’ll use him again, he’ll use you again..

When’s the last time you offered a broker $100 discount?
Do you want to swing for the fence or do you want to be “fair”? Remember how everyone was complaining about brokers just a few months ago?

And the government started crawling up peoples #####, and now things are different.

I don’t think it’s related. In the last couple months it’s been rare to go a day without a call or email looking for a truck.

I think you have a bad read here. The government isn't bothering anyone, the transparency stuff died off as soon as the market started heating up. They MIGHT have reached out to a handful of 3PLs that didn't ask carriers to waive their rights around customer charge transparency, but it certainly wasn't some sweeping government push that lead to change in behavior for brokers. The sole cause is the market (I.E supply and demand), demand heavily out weights supply, so brokers are paying more and doing what they can to be considered the "shipper of choice". The market will eventually cycle back down (as it always does) at which point brokers will pay less and carriers will do what they can to be considered a "core carrier".

It's the great cycle of freight.
