Do you have a temporary permit in permit book for that truck?...showing they applied for the plate if they hadn’t received it yet..

That makes sense. I'm home for the weekend, so I'll check for that on Monday.

What do you guys look for when it's time to park and you can't park in a terminal, truck stop, rest area etc? I've been lucky lately with finding a spot when I'm out later than I want to, but I know luck is a poor substitute for good planning and eventually my luck is going to run out some day when I'm dispatched to stay out too late.

I didn’t have a plate or HUT sticker for the first month when I got my truck. There’s a temp in the book.

I’ll use PC to leave a shipper or receiver to get to a truck stop or rest area. I’ve run out of time twice when driving and had to shut down. Once I went to a Walmart that had a dozen trucks in the parking lot, and the other time, there was an out of business motel on the exit.

No easy answer. Besides what @Southern Dad said you could also pay for a reserved spot at a truck stop so you know you have somewhere to go. I hate paying for parking and as company drivers I do not think we should have to if it is a situation beyond our control but it is an option. A friend of mine also searches Zillow for vacant commercial property for sale/lease in the area he is in, checks it out on satellite view and if it will work goes there if needed.

I stay out 12 days at a time and budget for two paid parking places. Paid parking allows me to extend my day. My favorite place to stop is terminals. I try to plan using them but it doesn’t allows line up. Next is rest areas or weigh stations. Truck stops are my third favorite.
