Well, here I am 6 months later, having left said company, but not due to anything other than hanging up my CDL for good. I gave up the roaming life for a family life, having a 5 year old and a family that needed me more than the open road.

My experience with TWT was good, working with some good folks out of the Decatur, AL terminal. Mind you, I live in Tennessee now, having moved up here shortly after leaving the job. I landed myself a "retire from" kind of job, and could only wish well anyone else seeking as such to get it.

Now, about the company as a whole:
The work structure was there, having only slight issues that would be expected with logistics, and only once did I get held up with paperwork, mainly when it came to picking up at railyards. My local dispatch was top-notch, and I had a few complaints about central dispatch, but again, nit-pick stuff that wasn't my cup of tea, and I never had issues caused by incompetence on either end.

The equipment was very well maintained, and I rarely sat more than an hour or two (I'm looking at you gorge) before I was rolling again due to a tire-blowout, although folks who wanted hand-holding during maintenance need to look elsewhere, as I had to personally jury-rig my pto after it came out on me down on I-10 in the middle of a monsoon. Loads of fun, but it had to be done. Why have your company charged hundreds when you can do it yourself?

The routes were predictable and the customers as well, which was welcomed and easy enough to get the feel for, only some of the central dispatched loads being a "PITA" when dealing with unknown customers who made things difficult (You want me to air unload a flammable? Yeah, uh-huh. Other than that, my boss always had my back on decisions made by me out on the road, so I never felt like I was being dictated or mandated to do things, more like guided sometimes, or to see things I didn't see at first glance.

Overall I was very happy with Tidewater, the benefits could've been better, as I'm not a huge fan of HSA benefits. Hope this helps anyone looking into them.

The former RoadFox. Keep it rubber side down.

I'll still poke in from time to time and offer what little experience I can, or poke holes in the Bad Truck Company complaints from time to time, can't let Frank have all the fun :D

Sorry to bump an old thread, but how much experience do they want applicants to have? I have a hazmat/tanker permit (no doubles/triples), but only about a month of hauling wood chips. Also, I’m from Georgia, so I’m not sure if they’d hire out of state.

Also, what would the avg. take-home pay be for a new-hire?

Thanks for that. They also have a terminal in J-Ville Fl., so that’s the one I may try to get hired on at. Based on this thread it looks as though there’s not much staying otr for long periods of time.
