    I'll be 71 next month and my insurance has been going down, probably reflecting the cars getting older. Haven't had an accident claim in 40 years. Only a few for glass and one for hail damage.

    The last two jobs I had, I told both that I would not be their most productive driver, but I would be one of the safest. At 61, I know my reflexes & brain functions have slowed, therefore my actions (productivity) has slowed. I dont take nearly as many chances as I did in my earlier years. I dont get in nearly the hurry that I used to. I let those younger guys do all the hard running.
    I was upfront with both employers that I wouldn't run as hard & try to keep up with his high production (or even mid production) guys. I'm going to get my load & take my time. Like the turtle & the rabbit. Being the turtle, I am slow but steady. I know I cant afford to go very fast & take chances any more.

    The 73 year old was driving the dump truck that ran the red light and hit the Semi. The 73 year old passed away and the semi driver was seriously injured.

    Claims history is one factor, but what a lot of people don't realize is that your insurance rates almost always reflect your credit score as much as your claim history. It's one reason I got out of the insurance business.

    There are some trucking companies that check credit scores too. Mainly for O/Os wanting to lease on.
