the oxy/acetylene torch is a big help. the clevis and pin, as well as the chamber mount nuts...get them all red hot and move to the next one. by the time you've got to the last pot the first one has cooled and a guy can start removing parts. depending on the type of auto adjust slacks you have, just gotta take care not to melt the rubbers on the ratchet adjuster shaft. those tiny pins are a pain when they rust in on these Meritor slacks.

This place was so not made for big trucks.
Everything you do, you back in off a major highway, and they could care less.

I Used a 1/4” cutting wheel for 3 of the clevis pins. Last one had to drill it, and it came out, along with bushing on the slack. Haldex slack, never knew they had bushings. Found a new one though. Also had all different lengths on rods, within an inch. But it bothered me, so I set one up from scratch, cut them all the same. Got one on, it just right. Brakes applied, it’s just barely less than a perfect 90. Spec is 85-110% of 90, so that’s good. Took a long time to figure it out, but now I know.Cattleman84, InTooDeep, lovesthedrive and 5 others Thank this.

I'm glad you got 'er done, it's no small task. good on you sir. which Haldex slacks do you have, the ones with the self adjuster pins mounted to the bushing housings? they came from factory on all our Aspen trailers, I've got them all changed out to Meritors now. those 7/16" manual adjuster bolts always strip on ours, I end up welding nuts onto them and it gives them a little more life before they gotta come off. not a fan of them, but our stuff is severe service and nothing lasts under there with all the crap they gotta run through.
