I know, it seems silly, but my friend drove for a company that was "self insured" and the boss considered hitting a deer as a chargeable, saying, you should know where the deer are,,,:dontknow: Even my union job, hitting a deer was considered a chargeable accident, and you had to go before a "group" that would "hear" your case.

You can’t control animals going on the road. And how about on a rainy nights? You want me to slam the brakes and jack knife the rig instead? I don’t understand these pencil pushers sometimes.

I've seen more than a few that had the back strap removed.

If you look at some of the 2019's they have a commercially offered deer guard on them. Looks like the 2020 and 2021's have an aftermarket one, not the old cheap ones that had welds from another planet and cheap spray paint on them.

Those deer guards don’t prevent damage to the truck, but rather spread the force over a wider area.

Instead of a direct hit destroying the hood and other components, you end up with dents and bends near the sections where the deer guard attaches to the truck.

I would still not want to hit one even with a deer guard.

Hold lane. Never swerve. At least if there is any doubt.

I've hit a few in my personal vehicle but never a rig. I'm a bleeding heart animal lover so I hate causing them unnecessary pain but I'm not killing myself going into a ditch.
That said I do end up with eye strain looking for them at night. A quick glint of their eyes in the dark has saved many a furry friend.

Yeah, I have been looking at them closely. I don't think grill guards add anything to the look of a truck so I am trying to get away with as little of a guard as possible but still be capable of knocking down small southern deer and hopefully keep them out of my radiator. That guard Prime runs is just about right for my needs. Think I found the manufacturer they use for new gen Cascadias. 979.00 for black powder coat. Seems high to me but I'm cheap. I'm ok with a few bad welds and cheap paint.Lol. Maybe there is more steel in them than I recognize. Idk.
