Just when I didnt think things could not get worse lol. Parked in a loves I had a trailer scuff the hatch or the car on the head rack, photos with contact police report everything. The damage didnt look terrible but I'm no estimator. I get the estimate for repairs $1487.00 not bad. I quickly submit it to the other guys insurance 3 days later i get a new email from the broker with estimate for reduced value of the vehicle $5700.00 Wtf.
The $5700 is in addition to the repair bill.

    Yeah.
It’s a new car with a salvage title.
    You might could buy it...

Unfortunately the car owners position is “even though it has been repaired they can no longer sell the car as NEW.“
They feel there is a certain monetary loss because of this.

    Lite bug Thanks this.

It's the law, over a certain amount Feds won't let it be sold as new.

Salvage Title? Where did he say salvaged? It was reduced value but not totaled, unless Im missing something. And I wouldn’t pay a thing, I would put all of it on the “at fault” policy.

Glad you can read lol, it doesnt take much to reach $1400 in damage at a dealer repair shop. I have just never heard of such a claim. I guess some costs of doing business are being absorbed by the carriers because of the high rates we charge ROFL.
When was the last time your insurance company sent you a check for depreciated value after someone hit your car ?
The last time I had a $1300 claim on a new car the dealer actually refused it after delivery but the point is the $1300 repair was paid end of story.

Since the depreciation loss is 3.5x the the actual damage maybe I'm paying for pain and suffering as well lol.

    Yeah for sure
I wonder if the cargo insurance companies have a good understanding of what it means coverage wise to cover the exact same damage occurring on a new car vs a used car?
I also wonder what it would be considered if instead of repairing the damage they bolted on a brand new OEM hatch?
If a transporter pops a tire or scrapes a wheel coming off the trailer is there a reduced value charge for that also?

My Ins Agent asked me a couple years ago if I hauled new cars and suggested that if I did to stop for the very issue you’re dealing with now. I could have had the rider that would cover this type of loss but I opted out of it. Understanding that this could happen if I had a damage on a new car.

Years ago I actually had a damage on the roof of a new F150, but I had a 2 day breakdown before I could deliver the load. And during those two days that roof was magically repaired. Odd’est thing.
