FxF has been pretty busy in my neck of the woods. Hubs aren’t able to break all of the freight most nights and central dispatch is getting creative moving people around to get freight to and from centers that can’t cover it with their own drivers. I’ve been getting a solid 2500+ miles per week.

I am not busy because of my low seniority. But my hub has been busy. We've also opened up linehaul runs on weekends to P&D drivers on a volunteer basis. Lastly, we have third party OTR carriers moving freight from hub to hub cause linehaul can't keep up.

Sounds like you guys are smarter about than we are.

They should give the extra runs going to terminals to drivers that can run them during the day. Ours all go to people that can’t run them until Sunday night, which holds up Monday morning’s operation.

Had a car spin out during heavy rain in the lane next to me about a truck length away. Did a 360 and smashed into the wall and bounced into my lane. I had to do a pretty hard brake on a very busy interstate to a complete stop. I got around him and pulled off to make sure he was ok. I then helped him get the car out of the road most of the way. Stayed out there with my flash light trying to alert traffic because we were around a bend in the highway until a police officer showed up. Thank GOD I did not hit that guy or get rear ended or swerve into traffic to my left and cause a bigger wreck. Needless to say I’m having a beer. Stay safe and alert out there guys.

Oh and I’m also thankful that my state isn’t defunding the police since a cop was on the scene in less than 10 minutes after alerting 911.

    What a night.

Awesome work! The nature of the job makes it unpredictable sometimes. You never know what scenario you find yourself n sometimes. But it sounds like you were at the right place at the right time.

Things I learned, by volunteering to go to FLORIDA. For one of our OTR drivers who was sick.

I NOW know why people hate Atlanta.

4 lane accident Sat. night at the END of my drive time. Stalled hundreds on 75 south for hours. I was able to detour at the 224 exit around the Hudson Bridge where the accident happened. Along with a few other trucks. Saw another 4 laner on the 285 bypass in the southbound lane on Wed, on my way home. Back the 285 up for no less than 6 MILES.

GA, needs to teach their troopers how to clear traffic lanes to keep it moving.

Saw a Semi fire at Nashville. Before the fire trucks showed up, lots of smoke.

An overtuned CRST in Illinois, who decided to sleep on his drivers door at the bottom of an off ramp south of the 57\39 interchange in Champaign.

Boca Raton FLA, is freaking HOT and humid for a Northern WI boy.
Never sleep next to a refer, if you can help it.
Pay to park, is worth it.

    Resets, on the road, SUCK.

But i'm back home now, and can recoup here. With my family. BTW, its SNOWING here. Should have stayed in FLORIDA.

Think it is more about desperation. We can't hang on to drivers for whatever reason. It's in our contract that P&D can't poach linehaul runs, and vice versa. I have yet to see someone file a complaint since all the drivers we have are running at full capacity.

Quite a sight to see UPS, US Express, YRC, and some other OTR companies coming through our terminal to scoop up our freight. I'm all for interlining stuff, but recently our barn looks more like a Flying J.

Go and hop in the truck and my ELD showed zero drive time. Run in to ask SCM to pull up my logs and correct the issue. “Oh I can’t log into peoplenet right now. Just go and we will fix it tomorrow”As he’s leaving for the night. I ended up figuring it out on my phone and corrected the problem or else I would of just gone home.

It’s happened to myself enough times that I don’t even bother asking anymore. First thing I do is log in from my phone and delete whatever bs entry caused it. It’s always the time clock or handheld adding something in and changing it back to on duty.
