FedEx ground questions

And over, and over and over . . .

 

There's absolutely no reason to wait until The Great Scamdemic is over. Just get at it. I went through CDL school just a few months back and am now doing exactly what I wanted, driving a Class A tractor-trailer at a good LTL company. And I'm loving every day of it. Not to mention good companies are hurting for new drivers right now, and offering good positions, pay and bonuses.

 

Like someone said. The drivers don't actually work for Fedex. They work for Fedex contractors. They can be W2 or 1099. Most are W2. There are two subdivisions in Fedex Contractors... P and D and OTR. P & D are the vans and step vans that deliver to peoples doors. OTR is over the road. They drive 18 wheelers.. they usually pull two 28 foot boxes... sometimes a 53 foot box. The OTR drivers require a class a CDL with doubles and triples endorsement.
A lot of the OTR drivers work dedicated runs. The OTR drivers are almost always team drivers.

 

I drove for Fedex Ground contractor. Good gig. Dedicated run, .$68/mi split, almost 5980 miles per week. 5 day week. Oct-Dec ran 6 days a week. Made $100k/ yr with bennies. Health, vision, dental, 1 week vacation.
Im retired now, but made good bank for the few years I was there.

 

It really depends on the ic you're working for. Some suck, and some are pretty good. I quit after two days because the ic I was working for treated the drivers like dogs. The guy that "trained me" spent the whole night talking #### about how horrible the company is. So it's really just a roll of the dice.

 

I work for FedEx Ground years ago.
It’s a good place to start.
I worked for a good broker guy.
I learned basic P&D and the routes, and pulled doubles pups on line haul the same 2nd shift.
So you learned it all.
But it didn’t pay nearly as good as working directly for a LTL company.
Right now, June 9, 2021, you could probably do a lot better by just hiring right into a good LTL company, that will pay you much better and train you into it all.
Their all looking to hire.

 

My son gets 70 cpm from the Fedex Ground contractor he works for. He usually comes pretty close to 3000 miles a week.

 

OK. He gets health insurance. His is paid. He has to pay for his family. He gets a 401 K. He gets 1 week of vacation per year. You seem to have a problem with Fedex. He works for a Fedex Ground contractor. So what did Fedex do to you to piss you off?
