So.......Rant On.
Loves at Mathews Mo... erm.
Sat behind a guy at fuel island with a McKinney Van, 47 minutes. Forty Seven.
Guy behind me so I could not move.
Dude comes out with flip flops, shorts, Jacket, swinging his bag of chicken.
I tried, I really did, but the Jerk said, “Ohh no, he’s not getting away that easy.”
Jerk. “Hey you Richard Cranium, What’s the matter? You can’t park??!
There’s 30 spots right there, even pull through s designed for the likes of you!”
Dude “What? Look man, I just got some chicken.”
Jerk, “You can’t be that ignorant knowing your holding up everything,”
About then some loves guy shows up wanting to know the problem, I explained
He didn’t care.
I said F it, almost tore up my Loves fuel card right there, got my composure told them all where to go, drove across the interstate to the TA.
Um Woosah... WooSah.

Well, no and here's why.
At first it sounded like a good idea, until you realize that every time that rascal cranks up, first you get a warning buzzer and then the truck just randomly cranks up.....I couldn't sleep like that.
But, honestly, I'm fine. After all, most of us older guys grew up without A/C. I'm good to about 75......depending on the humidity, (keeping in mind that my thermostat in the house is set at 78). Last summer I idled all night something less than 10 times. Sometimes if it's really warm when I go to bed, I'll idle till about midnight and then get up and shut it off. I've also got a little fan that keeps the air stirred up and that helps a lot.
As far as heat goes, like I said before, I like sleeping cold. My wife made me 2 really nice quilts that keep me very warm and makes me think of her when I go to sleep. That and a t-shirt and my Pooh pj's, and I'm set. Unless it gets real cold, then I put on socks and the stocking cap that FedEx gave me shortly before running me off. Actually, last year I was in Iowa and it got so cold that Goldie didn't want to run right when I cranked her up in the morning......so I had to run inside and get some of that Emergency Fuel Treatment.....But, I was just fine.
So, I'm happy as a clam. Part of the adventure is learning how to cope in less than perfect situations.
Would I buy an APU if they sold one that was reliable and at a reasonable cost, (look, I just replaced the A/C (Rheem) and heating system in my house (1600 sq ft), for less than $6000 last summer. $12k-$15k for a TriPac is usurious and they only charge that much because they can......) AND doesn't sound like a lawnmower with bad exhaust running 10 feet from your head? Yeah, I might. But for right now, I'm good.
My Sunday essay. You're welcome.InTooDeep, Sirscrapntruckalot, LoSt_AgAiN and 11 others Thank this. -

U ever thought about a invertor generator ? They sell those little ones at harbor freight . 500 bucks. I was thinking of making a setup. Small space heater , battery charger to keep truck batteries charged, plug in block heater and oil pan heater. Would be perfect for winter. Basically does everything an apu does but has more power and cheaper at 500 bucks, same price as one of the tripac alternators .Only downside is lugging gas cans around. And figuring out where to mount it without somebody running off with it in the middle of the night..LoSt_AgAiN, Dale thompson, 77fib77 and 2 others Thank this.
