I Just purchased a truck 2 months ago and it came with a tripac evolution. I was out for 2 weeks and it seemed to work fine heat and cool, but my last day out I turned the AC on and went to bed then my bunk started smelling funny almost like the smell of fireworks so I turned it off and when I checkd the apu outside it was smoking from the side where the belt is and it was really hot when i turned the switch to off I could feel the heat on my hand.
Idk if its electrical or something else, Does anyone know what could be the problem?

    My advice.
Don’t turn it on, it’ll smoke up the environment and be bad on the kids.
    2. Don’t touch it, it’s probably hot.
Turn off master switch go to Thermoking in Little Rock, got a guy there that’s good on them.

Could be a burned up alternator . Does it still work properly ? Charge batteries ? Run ac/bunk heat ?

I was tginking it could be the alternator cause of the smell. It does turn on, but as far as charging the batteries idk, I turned it on this morning to see if it would start for 1 second and as soon as it started i shut it off. Before this happened everything was working fine ac and heat even when it happened it was blowing ice cold all it did was smell kind of like fireworks when you light them. After that smell i jumped out of the truck opened the apu and saw smoke coming from the belt area so I turned the master switch off and grabbed my extinguisher thinking there was gonna be a fire.

Take off the covers and take a look. There is only 3 pulleys back there for the belt. Alternator ,ac, and the crank. Maybe belt is rubbing or something . Take some pics while ur in there too
