lol I had the same reaction as you when I read that log falsification is a felony. Perhaps way after the fact in a fatality crash it could be charged as a felony but an everyday falsification could be as little as a form and manner slap to a monetary fine along with PSP and/or CSA points.

The whole sleeper berth / off duty thing is retarded. Why is there even a distinction between the two? The sleeper berth category should be done away with. You are either driving, on duty not driving, or off duty. Period.

If you are off duty what difference does it make if you are in the sleeper, in the restaurant, taking a shower, in a motel, sitting in the drivers seat eating, sleeping under a tree, whatever. The point is you are not driving and not on duty. Nothing the government does is ever very logical but this has made me scratch my head.

I mean if you wanted to log it to the the letter of the law you could have a dozen status changes on a break. I was in the sleeper then I went inside the truck stop to get something to eat. I brought it back to eat in my sleeper and then realized they didn’t give me any ketchup so I went back in. Then back to my sleeper. An hour later I had to chunk a duece so I went back to the truck stop. Then I went back to the sleeper. A while later I got thirsty and went back in and bought a drink. Came back to the truck. Then I had to pee. Back inside and then back to the sleeper. Decided to call girlfriend and phone was going dead and charger wouldn’t reach so I sat in front seat talking to her for thirty minutes. Back to sleeper berth. Heard a commotion outside and went to the front seat to see some idiot about to back into my truck. Sat there and watched him back into the the truck next next to me and watched the cops come as it was more exciting then anything on tv. Back to the sleeper.
