So how much of a raise did Halvor Drivers get? At .43/per mile top pay for experienced drivers, there was a LOT of room for improvement.

    Trucker Paul Thanks this.

Here is the new pay scale...This is only the base. If you shut your truck off once in a while, fuel where your suppose to, and don't hit anything you can add another .04. The mileage bonus is up to the individual driver, which can add up to another .06. With that said...I always get .08-.10 above the base depending on how hard I want to run for the quarter.

Where else could a driver go to make more?? If I am pulling a flatbed I make between .58 and .60 per mile or dry van .53 to .55 per mile. Not arguing or defending Halvor, just wondering where I could make more is all.

Here ya go. Faster trucks and much better base pay. Granted I wouldn't want to work for either company, both too big and too much micromanaging from people who have never touched a truck their whole lives.

I know a few guys at Millis and they seem happy there all though they were one edge when Heartland aquired them. Overall with the entire compensation package we are usually within 1k or each other at the end of the year. Unless they are lying to me, but truckers won't do that. LOL!!!

even rookies, criminal history people, people who rolled over trucks, even they may choose not working over working for that pay. only real reason to work for that pay is accumulate some clean record exp and hope for a better job down the road one that pays for the costs of living may allow you to save up a bit to help your elderly parents or kids or whatever. we as working men need to make more than our selves, we got entire families that needs us to be the men who depend on us.

atleast weiner enterprises had good training. you had low pay, but the training was top tier. disregard the thread called werner trainer craps himself, that experience doesn't account for everyone there. overall it's decent, it's up for the student to utilize it. you get trained well and move into better jobs with the tools to be successful. i'm not sure if halvor does that, you get the low pay without the benefits of a starter company without the education?

I don't really want to get into defending Halvor or any other company...loose_leafs ask about our raise and I responded. To really compare companies you have to look at the entire package, basically how much do you actually make at years end, equipment, home time,...etc. If all that works for you awesome, if not move on. After everything is included in I will be around 75k per year, home every week, (not just for a 34 either) and a new truck. All that works out for me well because I live near the main terminal in Superior, Wi, don't care where I go and I run as hard as I legally can. We have lanes and customers that allow me to pump out 600 miles daily...I don't know if that's possible if you live in North Carolina for example.

As for training...We have our own school in Inver Grove Heights, MN. After school you will go with a trainer for 5 weeks. If you go to some other school you will still go with a trainer for 5 weeks. The trainer is actually training, they will be on duty in the jump seat while you are driving.

I guess I would encourage the new guys and gals...heck even the old ones to look at the entire package before you make a decision. I pulled tanker for 15 years, gas, fuel oil, asphalt, calcium chloride, propane, butane, and anhydrous. Everyone would always ask how much I made and I would respond I get a percentage, but it comes out to $1.00 to $1.50 per loaded mile depending on the product. I knew what kind of person I was talking with depending on their response. (I make more at years end now, LOL!!)
