Do you guys ever haul fish meal? It's not too bad unless it gets wet. If you get some on you and you're sweating it turns into something like cod liver oil. You spend the first couple of weeks puking until you get used to it.
Years ago we had a steady haul of that crap out of Astoria going to a feed mill in Petaluma. Nobody was sorry when the plant burned down.

Some do, but then they have a ton of chicken houses around here, usually they’ll have 2-3 storage tanks, but they got to roll when it’s time.MACK E-6 and Mark_2wain Thank this.

Only a couple of weeks puking? That ain't bad. LOL
-
No, I won’t haul fish meal, or blood meal, once is enough for a lifetime..
-
Tons around here, too. I think I must be in the chicken belt of the US.
Are those feed trailers with the augers 53'?
I gotta admit, getting lined up with the top of those storage tanks looks kinda tricky. -
What the hell is "blood meal"?
magoo68 and Mark_2wain Thank this. -
If were talking about chicken farms, chicken feed mills produce an aroma that I'd rather smell all day long compared to that of the processing plants.JolliRoger and Judge Thank this.

I've hauled feed . It's not a bad job. I have never worked for JB so I can't speak to that. For me the worst part of it was you will never get holidays off. When the rest of the world is all geared up for a 3 day weekend you will still be working. Normally Christmas day was the only day you could count on getting off. And even then you are subject to call in. It takes an act of Congress to be able to use your vacation days. And no matter how bad the weather gets, slap on the chains and keep going because birds have to eat. You will get used to the aroma of the mill and the farms.
lester and Mark_2wain Thank this. -
Just what it sounds like. Actual blood cooked down to a dry product. It's mostly used in making dry dog food.MACK E-6 Thanks this.

Down here we’ve got 3 that are processing and feed mill all in one..
Wonderful places, even the chickens get quiet when they roll in in the cages.MACK E-6 Thanks this.
