Idk anything about nothing but I know of one 8.1 that’s over 300,000 miles and still going with nothing done to it. Now it may use oil I’ve never asked but he’s never pampered it. It’s been a good truck.

Well thats good to hear. These were crapping out about 120k. Maybe just a bad batch. They were in the old body style 2001/2002 C3500HD phone company trucks. Maybe its was just the early ones. I dont have any major experience with later ones.

But they kept pulling rocker studs, and few times turned roller lifters sideways and wiped out cam. But a few busted the lifter bore.

They all drank oil. But in fairness, some of the drivers took care of things and some didn't.

I'm not proud of this, and guess we change are minds in life.

But Drinking and driving was a sport out here in the sticks. Some were good and some were not.

@AModelCat have a question for you. My 2020 579 has started to drain the air tanks in less than 10 hours lately. Yesterday I went to the yard and after being off for roughly 24 hours, the primary tank was drained and secondary was still over 100. No air leaks that I can find or hear, but it has been getting coldish at night. Down into the 30’s. Do you think it could just be weather related? I’m no mechanic, but can’t find an obvious source for a leak.

Mine just started doing it recently. I’m hoping it’s weather related

Haha! I seen your message coming 200 miles ago; no, it wasn’t necessary for someone to wipe a booger on the pump lever
