In Salisbury MD Perdue's feed mill and processing plant are on opposite ends of town.

I'd much rather go to the feed mill.

Simmons poultry in Southwest City, Mo is .. erm
Feathers and ick all over the ground, when it’s wet it’s worse.
End dumps with .. entrails and bloody material and fly heaven.
I’ve been there a lot, got everything from feather meal to meat and bone.

Short haul hauling meal isn’t too bad in above freezing weather . But long haul it’s miserable because it packs and often requires a bar to break it up to unload which is a very dirty job

Like wet salt out of Hutchinson ks, then take it up to some friggin hide rendering place off of 70 towards Lawrence (twice there was enough); then sit on a bucket poking the #### so it will fall out if hopper. All while smelling and looking at pallets and pallets of hides all around you.

I haul pig feed as an owner operator. Its not a bad job. You'll get used to the smell and for the most part it won't really attach itself to you.

Animals never stop eating so feeds always gotta go out. Holidays really do nothing but screw up the week. If there's a holiday mid week that you get off it probably just means you will work Saturday or longer hours the rest of the week. Winter can suck, I carry tire chains so I don't have to sit and wait till morning to call a farmer to pull me out of a snow bank.
I do 10 or so loads a night, longest load is probably 70 miles round trip. I get a little bored. Camera on the end of my auger makes it easy to hit the hole

Good to know about the hours and tire chains. They want me to work second shift... 3pm to 1am ish. Which kinda surprised me, because I thought most farmers would want delivery in the daytime.

Is that common to have a camera on your auger or did you rig that up?

The co-op i haul for has something like 6 or 7 locations and 4 of those run 24 hours 5 days a week. There's a few sites I can't go to in the middle of the night because they are to close to the farmers house but most are not an issue. The camera on the auger is pretty common around here anyway. I would not be without it, makes things way faster and easier. And I can see the feed dropping in the bin, no chance of spilling. Cabcam is the brand.
