I have friends leased to Landstar on the heavy haul side and some that pull flats and steps over their. They tell me a lot of the better paying freight never hits the boards. They were telling me one agent they haul for very seldom puts anything on the board because he always has his regulars and then BOC's calling him.
I miss pulling my flat and step and still have all my equipment just doing my homework and watching the rates before I jump back in.

Landstar is a decent outfit compared to the others that are in the o/o percentage group. I looked at them a couple of years ago and the only real thing I didn't like was the load board. A person just couldn't click a "assign" button to book the load...you had to call in to a agent to get it if the load was even still available or sometimes the load was just a bait to get calls. Also not all the loads are posted on the boards and many of the agents have their own trucks which get the pick of the freight from the get go.
I choose instead to lease on with Schneider and the Choice program. It has pretty much all the benifits of the Landstar deal, but now if I want a load I just click a button and its mine...no calling and dealing with a agent and no issues with money. Yeah Schneider doesn't list all their available loads on the board either and to be honest I reall y don't want to haul some of them anyways. -
Does the 1.03 posted on their board include the FSC or is that always added beyond the rate posted since LS not suppose to take a percentage of the FCS too?????
-
yes that is usually including the FSC

No lie. We saw a news story one day back when fuel was pushing $4. A driver took a load to LA and was telling the interviewer that the pay on the load wouldn't even cover his fuel costs.... How stupid can you be to not only not make a profit but run a load that costs you money.... -
That's just scary.... -
I'm looking at 3 loads from TX to chicago right now. 44k lbs. $0.88mi
-
That's rather depressing.
