I don't like having my reefer running anymore than anyone else, and I go by the receiver rules. So what are you going to do when they reject your load for a temperature issue? Target in Lake City Florida, will reject your load for temperature if you open your doors before being told to do so. So if you turn your reefer off while in the door, your load is rejected. And you will have an expensive claim.......

Completely agree with you that the reefer warms up faster with it running and the doors open. But you MUST do what the receiver wants or the load can be rejected. Report back to us when you have a rejected load of produce or frozen food because you turned off the reefer at the receiving dock.

Again, I ask the customer what they prefer...I'm not getting a load rejected because you dont approve of how I run MY unit..

Go ahead and shut that unit off with a Schwans ice cream load, and let us know how that works out...

IT IS FROZEN ROCK SOLID been doing this for 10 years never had a problem.
keep burning your fuel!!! why do you think thermo and carrier are putting door switches on...
if the recv told you to keep your home refrigerator door open you'd probably do that too lol

Leaving reefer run while doors open is hard on the compressor, well everything not a good idea. Reefer is only to maintain a temp not to cool product. But thermo king and carrier make a lot of money from broke units. Many companies put switches to shut reefers off when doors open just for the reason above.
