I'm driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia otr tractor with just under 48,000 miles now.

Every couple of weeks the cab ceiling dome light goes into this display routine of turning on fully for a few seconds then it begins a short dimming phase before turning off.

A second and a half later, the light begins to brighten, then dims again repeating this same routine for as long as two days.

I had the brilliant idea of taking the tractor to a dealership during hometime, but the dang thing returns to normal working order long before that happens.

And I know if I bring the tractor to the dealership when the light is functioning properly, they'll just tell me there's no problem.

I've tried turning the truck on and off repeatedly with no success. I've also switched the main power off, too, but to no avail.

I've also had no success in locating the fuse for this light. Is it number 7?

Thats a young truck to be acting like that already. My 2001 pete gets a bug every now and then. Like now my bunk heater blower lost its ground or something. Wont blow air. Anyway other than unplugging your light to avoid being annoyed i don't know. Under warranty? Mayby get one of those bright led type lights that are magnetic. If you can find metal for it.

@Flat Earth Trucker Need to check the GND cable to the sSAM of the truck. I bet there's a poor connection from assembly causing this issue. This involves fully disconnecting the batteries and removing the dog-house to gain access to the B+ cables and the GND cables to the sSAM. Disconnect them and thoroughly clean them.

Also you can ck. both door push button inside door jam that make inside light come on to be sure the rubber seal is not torn and letting water inside switch, they may just pop out to look at them or have a small torx head screw holding them in after you pull rubber seal back if it has one on it, a bit of gasket sealer can fix them if you find one of them torn?

@Flat Earth Trucker any update on this? Did you inspect the GND wiring to the sSAM? Any more symptoms? Please report...

I'm a company driver with a company tractor, so I won't be tearing into the electrical system anytime soon.
I'm really at the mercy of bringing the truck in to a dealership.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

Turn the dome light on then start pulling fuses and replacing them 1 at a time until you get the right one. Once you find the correct fuse, leave it out. This will at least disable the light.

I did try that, but I didn't pluck out every fuse. Didn't the right tool for that.

Nowadays I put a bag over the light when it goes haywire. The light corrects itself after a day or so.
