Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino comes to mind - the scene at the barber shop.

If you’re a known friend, the conversation can open with a flurry of insults.

Business, or any other calls are preceded by a clear statement of who I am and why I am calling, and a request for the persons time.

I got a broker who put me and another guy who runs open deck in my area on his email list. He started emailing us loads, I saw one I might want and he tried to lowball it to ####ing Denver, complete with the "it's all I've got on it" email coming in like $900 below my asking price. Rude in it's own way I suppose.

    TallJoe Thanks this.

It is funny when I see those e-mails with a dramatic tone "Please help...What's your rate?" then you of course assume that under the circumstances of urgency and required haste, it is more than reasonable to demand a few hundred more but all you have in their reply is a meager average market rate that you can get from the likes of Uber or Convoy by "click and book" any time of a day.
