My understanding of seasoning a cast iron skillet was to get it very hot. Then drop it off in cold water. Normally did that camping and tossed it in a small fresh water creek. Clean as new but not sure your little pot will stand that.
When I was growing up one was kept on top off the wood stove that heated the house. That was a humidifier so our heads were not all mucked up.
Learn to like tea or just put it on a shelf.singlescrewshaker, Flint1, jamespmack and 5 others Thank this. -
For the folks that do not know sorghum is a grass. It is often used for silage and grazing. It will grow in places where sugarcane will not. Like WV or Kentucky in this picture. It was and or is used for syrup on biscuit and pancakes. Similar to good bourbon in that it may be an aquired taste and a little on the strong side. A little dab will do ya.
We still called it cane and it was cut by hand. Loaded on a wagon and hauled the the press. The press was similar to an old washer ringer ( yes for clothes ) and cane was feed through it by hand. The larger shorter section of the beam over hanging the press was to balance the weight. Muley had enough to do walking in circles. No need to tote a load at the same time. The pile by the oak tree is the cane that had been ran through it that day.singlescrewshaker, cke, Flint1 and 9 others Thank this. -
I clean my cast iron by boiling water in it on the stove, scrape out all the crap, dump the dirty water, wash out with hot water, reheat on stove till dry, coat in oil and stick it in the oven to cool and be ready for next time. I aint no connoisseur, so it works for me.
@Eldiablo if you want more gen 3 small block practice, I have an 04 5.3 with an air intake leak that has turned into an oil leak as well. You're welcome to come fix it, I'll provide parts

I got my truck all spruced up. Realigned the bumper and retightened the bolts. A previous company driver hit something on the driver side and broke the bracket and even the lower mounting tabs from the frame.
Shined it up with some chrome polish, hit the tires with some tire shine and she's a 15ft'er now lol.cke, Eldiablo, jamespmack and 4 others Thank this.
