What if it Snows?

It’s too early for any real worries. My angst was just a join along. The only wild card is there was a change in upper management just before Christmas. The immediate problem is commiefornia locking us out and weather and some cancellations because of COVID paranoia. Both of my immediate bosses want to continue the program.

 

We have succesfully escaped the communist state... onward to the land of mormons.

 

I've been wb on 90 all day.

Snow squalls in NY, PA, and OH.

Particularly visibility-reducing east and south of Cleveland.

I finally had enough.

I'm at the TA off I-71 in Lodi.

The restaurant is open, no tables roped off, still limited menu.

FINALLY got my spaghetti and meatballs! Taaaaaaa-sty!

Of course, I had to check and make sure the peanut butter chocolate cake was up to standard.

It was.

I can stick around here 'til 7am, have a sit-down breakfast, and still be home before noon. Which is what I'm gonna do.

Snuggle up to the OM, Dave. Going down to the teens overnight, plus wind chill.

 

Leave this morning to head to Carson city. Get just past Colfax CA and the big ### snowflakes start to fall. I says WTF and pull over to check weather and road conditions again. Checked them 2 hrs earlier light snow flurries no biggie. Road conditions now say max chains from Colfax to NV state line say what. Plus 80 EB closed at Gold run due to 2 semi wrecks two locations.
So I says well lets slap some iron on and drive the 11 miles to the parking lot called 80 yeah no ripped a u turn and headed home. 3 hours later road was clear and partly cloudy, strangest storm I've seen on this hill in years.Guess I'll be going tomorrow

 

Some of these google search weather results can be wacky. A similar thing happened to me in Utah on i15 North up near Beaver. Checked weather and it said that it was clear. Get to Beaver and it's slamming snow with zero visibility and it's that way for most of the trip up to i70 east. I get on i70 east and about 10 miles later it's clear.

 

Picked up my trailer, taking a load to Sparks, 2100 miles, $3800 gross. Wasn't much good coming out of Indiana today.

 

Well.

Got everything ready on truck and trailer, couldn’t find any air leaks, but we’ll check tomorrow and see if it held all air.

I called two guys I haul for and neither answered, nor called back after 3.5 hours.
So, I’m going to wait til Monday and see if something comes up, if not I’ll have to fall to the.... load board...

 

I get that, and agree to an extent, I live right off 80 and have been running this hill for 40 yrs and have a good handle on watching the weather and have decent sources for the forecast this one was just wacky. Not a stranger to throwing iron and running over lol last year i tossed iron 30 times. Hmmm reading this as I type it I'm thinking there is something wrong with me
