Rand McNally Support Thread. (Part 3)

Hi so this morning I called their customer service and yes their servers are down for that reason. The unfortunately thing if thst the agent said "we don't have an estimate of when it will be back online"

So I'm going to return my unit before my deadline and get my self a garmin.

Maybe in the future we see garmin having the same features who else will hack RM !

 

Ironically it was the same thing happened to Garmin in August.

The Garmin Hack Was a Warning

 

530 just #### the bed fully it seems. had been randomly shutting off for a few monthsnow. friday did it 5 or 6 times then just wouldnt power on again. now have the garmin 580......

 

My 740 has been doing the same thing. At times I think it just didn’t have a good connection on the magnetic holder and was running off battery until it shuts down but other times, like this morning, it just went belly up and once I got it to reboot it seemed to still be fully charged.

I like my RM... it serves me well... there are several improvements I think they could incorporate but getting things like feature updates (or even map updates or new truck stops added to the database) seems impossible.

they really need to change their business model from “selling hardware” to being able to keep up in “App Features”

 

Had the new Overdrive 8 inch for over a year now and I can not get any traffic to show up. Nothing in the settings or on the map. What's going on? And the weather disappears as soon as I get on the road. It will not follow me. Yes I have good wifi. Tmobile in Chicago. Can't say I have bad cell signal.

 

This is why I returned my and now I have a garmin otr800 so far it been very good. Traffic and weather work very well.

I stop using McNally I prefer live updates like hammer, I purchased a new tablet use as my mobile hotspot and I just download hammer and works like a charm I am having issues maybe someone help I can't rotate the navigation to wide way and instead up and down any know a way fix this not tech smart so any help appreciated

 

What Tablet? Android or iPad?

either way, is there a rotation lock option that is keeping everything in portrait (up n down) mode? Do other apps switch their orientation or is this the only one impacted?

there is a hammer support thread here on TTR as well... maybe if it’s not a rotation lock issue, someone from that group can help.

 

Does anyone know where I can order a new tnd 740 battery replacement
