Are you by chance pushing the off/on button Simultaneously?...i know from experience that’s how you override the onguard system for the cruise fault..

They don't have an on/off button on the new Cascadias anymore. Just a set and resume.

    JoeyJunk and drvrtech77 Thank this.

Will do. As soon as it goes nuts again. It did it 3x between Limon and Burlington but hasn't done it since. Not sure if it was the rough roads or what, but once I got into KS it didn't do it again.

People criticizing it haven't bought much of their own fuel. I bought a truck from Crete that had that feature and saved a lot of fuel with it and it's completely safe if you understand how it works.

There are much more effective ways to save fuel. An APU saves a lot more fuel, as well as excess wear and tear on the engine. Plus lengthens the time before you have to service the emissions system (i.e. the DPF). The Mack Pinnacle I had at Wy-Moore got better fuel mileage than this Freightliner pulling open deck trailers (tarped and conestoga) with loads normally grossing 78-80k lbs, mostly because it had an APU. And an APU made life a lot more comfortable out here rather than this opit-idle stuff. Which means saving money recruiting because less drivers leave for companies with better driver friendly equipment.

Understanding it doesn't make it any less of a PITA. Mine goes into coast UPHILL, mine goes into coast pretty much any time you aren't on cruise and lift your foot off the throttle which means increased use of the service brake just to slow down a little to match the speed of the traffic in front of you or slow down when entering a reduced speed zone instead of using the drag of the engine to slow (in areas that prohibit engine braking). Not to mention, on cruise, the 3-5 mph drop below the set speed before it resumes...(which is a real fuel saver o_O). The e-coast system should be outlawed as a major safety hazzard.

Crete was putting Tri-Paks on all trucks several years ago. They stopped abruptly for some reason. I had just got used to mine when they pulled me out of that truck. The truck I bought never went into e-coast up hill. The cruise had to be on for e-coast would work at all. It was a 2015 Cascadia. They must be setting them up differently. The speed would drop like you explain before it would start pulling again, I got in the habit of putting my foot on the fuel at those times. There were times when the e-coast wasn't working and when that happened, my mpg dropped drastically. My new T-680 is capable of it but it's not enabled. The 1st time I need to get it in a dealer, it'll for sure be enebled. We all have our opinions. A friend of mine thinks cruise control should be made illegal. I'm for most things that save me fuel and e-coast definitely does that. I was at Crete/Shaffer long enough (13 years) to know they don't implement a fleet wide move like e-coast without crunching a lot of numbers. They're saving a lot of money.

Had the truck in the shop couple days ago. They updated the settings and fixed the issue with the cruise. A little bit of throttle and it’ll hold 65.

    baha Thanks this.

I was actually here then too. (when they put APU's on 1 year of their Century class trucks)..they had some Carrier units as well. I had a TK unit put on my truck, and loved it. It was a test run to see if it was worth the expense. The problem is, they serviced and maintained them just like they do all their equipment. They don't service their stuff like they're gonna own it long term, they service their stuff to last as long as they own it and just enough to keep the warranty in effect. I mean, would an O/O go 60,000 miles between oil changes? But that's when they B service their trucks, with A's a couple times in between. When I owned my own, I changed mine between 15-20,000, usually when it started using oil faster than normal (pre EGR motor, before partial synthetic oil was the norm)...which meant that the oil had absorbed as much contaminats as it could, and was losing it's ability to lubricate. If I were to ever own one again, I certainly wouldn't buy a former fleet truck from a mega because most megas do the same type service schedule as we do here, and they don't do services for the long term, they do them for the just long enough term. And I'm not putting down the company by saying this...it's a money thing, why spend more money than you have to on a vehicle you're not keeping indefinitely.
