    Working on it.
About a mile from the Square now.

Usually some pretty good talent walking the sidewalks down there

The blaster's job requires certification and there's a pretty tough exam for it. A blaster usually started out as a crew member and worked his way up. Some people never advance.
All I know about Austin is what I've seen hauling for them in a fairly small geographic area. Duties may change from place to place but the job is basically the same wherever you are. They have operations all over the world.
The driver's job description is absolutely true. They do mostly industrial blasting in quarries. You'll work as a laborer when your truck is loading holes with ANFO or whatever else they're using.. That might mean sitting in the cab and running a pump while you move from hole to hole . It can also be outside...in all weather... stemming the drill holes or dropping boosters and cord down the hole. You'll load up right there in the quarry or open pit mine from plant storage and you'll stay there going back and forth all day. It's fairly fast paced because the holes have to be loaded and the shot made all in one day.
You never see an old man on the shot crew except for maybe the blaster. You don't see any fat guys either The blaster runs the job and he keeps his people moving..
We used to haul AN for Austin and there always seemed to be new guys on the crew.
It's a long way from being a straight driving job.

I give him a A++ for effort. He is taking pictures of women from inside his van just to please you. That will get you locked up and interrogated in most states. Give the dude some credit.
