It really seemed to be the best diet/lifestyle change. Cut out sugar, bread, pasta, and potatoes, and the weight falls off. Two years about at my DOT physical I was told I was borderline for needing a sleep apnea test. Both my BMI and neck size were on the edge. But they let me pass and gave me my two year card. At the time I was 6’2 and 275 lbs. A year ago I started eating low carb and got way better results than any other diet I’ve ever been on. I can still drink on the weekends(replace beer with liquor), which is not common with most “diets”. I can still eat some of the things I like. I eat a lot of bacon, sausage, and eggs in the morning. I can still have deep fried chicken wings(no breading and no bbq sauce). I love cheese, and can eat a lot of that for snacks. I eat a lot more chicken breasts and salads than I ever have as well.
Had my latest DOT physical last month and passed easily. Down to 215 lbs and healthy as a horse. At my normal doctor, cholesterol and blood pressure are also in better shape. When I have to stop at a gas station for a driving snack I stick to peanuts, pickles, hard boiled eggs, jerky, cheese, etc instead of chips and roller hot dogs. If anyone is struggling with their weight I suggest doing to some research on low carb\keto eating and see if it works for you!
Low carb eating helped me lose a lot of weight

I went more for the calorie method myself but added in a couple hours of physical activity every week as well. Fast food and sugary drinks were the reason for my weight. Drinking water exclusively and replacing fast food with fresh fruits, vegetables and chicken made a huge difference for me.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I too started on this diet last year when I tipped the 300 mark and my doc said my blood work showed pre-diabetes. That what I needed. Something to scare me into doing something. Was down 70 lbs, but got off it for a month or so and gained some back. On it again with a goal of 175 lbs. My wife has found quite a few ways to make low carb meals and I couldn't do this diet without her support. I found this bbq sauce at walmart and it's not bad. Also I use a little salsa to spice things up.

Little bit of that over about a dozen meatballs, an hour in a HotLogic Mini, and happy driver..... I use freezer bags to prep food in, and they cook very nicely. I've done the same with boneless chicken tenderloins, but those get two hours.bzinger, Dave_in_AZ and kemosabi49 Thank this.
