Hi, I'm new here. I have 2.5-ish ears OTR experience. I applied for a position at Custom Commodities. I haven't heard of them, but they have a dedicated route going through my area. It is a dry bulk account. It seems pretty attractive to me. Very predictable route. Anyone familiar with this company? I think they are based in TX. That's all I know. The people I've talked to seem pretty cool. What are they like to work for?
Thanks.
Custom Commodities. How are they?

Based in Gilmer Tx. NE of Tyler. Nice equipment. Other than that I don’t know much about them. I’ve talked to a few of their hands on the road but never about pay, etc. Call them and see what they have to offer. I do know a lot of their delivery is done in the middle of the night when plants are shut down.

They are the parent company or sister company of Elliot Truck Lines. Perhaps @Cobrawastaken can give you some insight. He has a thread on Elliot in our Tanker section.

Go for it, driver. Good folks at Gilmer yard. Owners in the office every day. I have had only great experiences as an Elliott driver. Am taking a sabbatical due to personal issues but they assured me the door is always open for a comeback. Small company atmosphere, but good equipment and good runs too.

I worked at Custom until I retired three years ago. Not a bad job, better than most. Equipment is top notch, the worst truck in the fleet is still better than you'll find at most other companies. I started out driving the oldest truck in the fleet, #188, I wasn't afraid to go anywhere in that old girl. I drove 49 years and never worked for a better company. No company is perfect but this one was A+ for me.
