Pilot went full TA!!

Have you ever bought a coffee at Pilot and then, after a couple sips, had to immediately go to the bathroom? That’s from bacteria growing in the brewing pot that hasn’t been cleaned and that runs 24/7. When I was OTR, that was about one out of every 10 cups. Since brewing my own, that’s never happened.

I want to throw in another do-it-yourself money saving suggestion besides coffee: When I found out Coca Cola was training their employees to “try to be less white” ( Coca-Cola Asks Its Workers to Be 'Less White' to Fight Racism ), I decided I would never buy another one of their products. Ever.

There’s a company called Sodastream that sells a device at Target that allows you to make your own carbonated soda. A bottle of flavoring costs $6.00 and makes fifteen - 32oz servings. That comes to 40 cents for every 32 ounces.

I didn’t like the Cola flavor but the Root Beer, Cherry Cola and Dr Pepper-like flavors have all been good and the carbonation tastes exact like what you’d get in the store. The Fizzi model does not require electricity and costs $80.

 

I don't know how to "be less White."

I do know how to "drink less Coke."

 

I heat up Stok brand cold brew in the truck. Keeps me from having to go to any truck stop until I need fuel or shower/laundry.
Cafe Bustelo makes instant packets that's not bad. I keep them for emergency backup.

The way to drink with this cup is to keep the flap down, when you go to take a drink you push it in with your tongue

 

Yeah those lids suck. Hate them!

What I do is carry instant coffee. I’ll buy coffee from the truck stop every few days and then keep the cup to make my own. When it’s time to buy another from the TS, I’ll avoid those lids.

I do as well! When you try to lock the little tab opening pushes the whole lid down in to your coffee.
