I’m thinking about getting reefer. My concern is what do you do if the reefer quits while driving and you have a load inside.

Unless you are hauling ice cream during the summer in Death Valley, you have a few hours to get it squared away before it spoils.

And if you are in Death Valley with that ice cream, you may as well crack the door open and sample some of the flavors before they become gooey liquid.

OP, most towns of any size will have repair shops and they’ll take you on an emergency basis under most circumstances. A well looked after reefer is going to be reliable though, and on the off chance there is an issue, you have some time if your box is well sealed and insulated. Stop everything and get to the nearest repair facility, though.

I remember after I bought my new truck and reefer, my very first load was chilled beer kegs heading to Denver from CA. The reefer stopped late at night as I approached Salt Lake City and it was brand new and under warranty. Called TK at 10pm and they took me in and fixed the problem no questions asked. They said that the dealer didn't set up the reefer right and failed to tighten the ground buss so it came loose and the engine stopped. No charge to me.

The unit will never break down while parked near a carrier dealer. When it does, finf immediately a repair place.
