But it probably takes two years. I wish lawyers weren't so expensive. These "sign-on" bonuses that are actually longevity bonuses need to stop. If they don't come off it when you sign-on, then it's not a sign-on bonus.

We're in a race to the bottom. All of those good private fleet jobs that dried over the last thirty years to outsource to "mega-dedicated" leaves two companies making a profit, and a lower paid driver. Now mega-dedicated is outsourcing its drivers to a temp agency. Now there's three companies making a profit. Sure doesn't leave much for the worker.

That's the general trend in any industry and throughout the entire American economy. Sounds like 99% of the wealth going to the top .1%.
LindaPV Thanks this. -
If they paid it in full at sign on then you would be signing a binding contact to work for them for a set amount of time. If you leave before that time you will be forced to pay them back.

All I know about Hogan is that anytime I see one, I can't help but to think to myself:
"Hogan! What are you trying to do to me?"
- Col. KlinkLonesome, jason6541 and 4mer trucker Thank this. -
The dude who said he's been for hogan for 13 is full of it, I've seen his name before on other threads about hogan, people need to back off big corps and run there own authority. It's isn't hard honestly. Get a broker or agent. Hell, find a local shipper and run there loads for 90% more then what anyone else in the industry will pay. A person would be looking at around 250k a year to 350k a year if they did it that way. That's with one truck. I will add hogan has a good dedicated service plan. They just can't keep the drivers for the simple fact of the bs they pull. It's decent enough for a family person but you'll go insane with their unprofessional equipment they want you to operate

After I had been there inconsistently, 1-3 times a week, for a little while, One of the dispatchers mentioned Drivers Walking Off The Job and one time 7 Men Did, as one was her husband or brother. I tended to believe some Dispatchers at some Companies as my wife had been one with a couple of LARGE out of NC Carriers with Terminals in NC.
NONE of the Drivers at that Warehouse/Dispatch/Receiver/Location for Save-A-Lot, Lexington NC, had ANYTHING positive to say. I thot that was rather sad and some of them had been there a few YEARS.
The really sad part was the "maintenance" of their Trucks and Trailers.
hogan Trucks: Sometimes folks were "assigned" a truck that the Fuel Gauge was stuck on E, with engine running. Sometimes their response would be "Gauge Broken". MY response was "assign different truck, I don't use a Stick to measure Fuel Amount."
I was one of the MANY who worked at a hogan facility in Lexington, NC , thru a 3rd party, Driver Temp Service, in 2018.
It was an "interesting" place, but not on the fun side.
One morning I arrived say 0530 hours for a loaded Reefer to some places and whilst I was doing a walk around of the docked, still being loaded, trailer, I noticed the Brake Shoes on the 2nd Axle right side were under the minimum Limit, plus there was a Inside Flat, because when kicked, it bounced.
Dispatch stated "You Have No Choice. You Have To Take That Trailer. It's Already Loaded And Ready To Go."
So I kindly responded, "No I don't have to take it anywhere and I can go to my car and leave because that trailer is UNSAFE. Reload on a Decent Trailer!"
So Load was shifted to an acceptable Trailer.
I sadly discovered upon the Interstate that hogan was powered up to the astounding and blurring speed of 62, in a 10 speed manual.
I worked haphazardly or inconsistently. Maybe 2-3 times a week and when hogan dispatch had "an emergency" (like no one including their employees wanted to or would show up as well from the various 3rd party Driver Services, I would occasionally accept another "What'll It Be This Time" trip.
The other "fun part" was one time I was given a RENTAL TRACTOR, from maybe Penske or Ryder (both day cab, straight drive, yellow, 10 wheel trucks) and before I could Hook Up, the Pre-Trip clarified that the Back Lights did not work, nor did the 4 ways. Just No Power, but it was "ready" to leave the Rental Yard.
So off to hogan garage and 45 minutes later (they had to rewire the back end), hooked up acceptable trailer and away I went to another late delivery at a customer. At least the rental had some top end, I think 65 or 67, so at least I could somewhat "keep up" and not be "another brick in the wall" or "slow wagon in any lane".
Hogan was interesting yet I could no longer "handle" the experimental equipment and I wasn't there very long or very much.
>>Side note: I used to drive for a local "Hot Shot Company" that had 3 Tractor Trailer Combos as well 4 straight (24') Trucks in Greensboro, NC.
We hauled Freight for a Company called MACH 1 based in Phoenix, AZ. Usually I would go to Hotlanta then across 20 to Coppell (DFW airport area) and sometimes Phoenix, AZ turns. Other Turns would start the same but back trip down I-10, then up I-65 to I-85 to Base. I-40 to I-30 turns played as well. Did that for about 6 years before stopping in early 2018.<<
I had mechanical problems with the "owner" in that I would report problems usually from the road and his response was usually "We'll fix it when U git back", which grew to be "when U git back the second time, a.k.a., next week" I started telling him "It'll be waiting for you next week cause I'm not going out". That's what it seemed like at hogan. Telling someone about Trk/Trlr problems basically received the "That's Too Bad, Now Hook Up & Go."
I liked few People at hogan, because very FEW lied (as far as I cud tell).
Hogan somehow fumbled by claiming I was an Employee to D.A.C.
At the next and last Driver Temp Service, such was "discovered" in their Hiring protocol. Didn't take much to get that corrected.

I hope whoever/whomever has a good relationship with Hogan, continues to prosper because it used to be, from Historical Records, a well respected Company, and I figure for some Drivers and Others (Dispatch/Maintenance/Supervisors), it remains as such!
Thanks For Reading.

That comment about 3rd party temps working cheaper is a fallacy.
We sometimes get in a jam at the mill and our driver temp agency charges us 35$ a hour , and the driver is paid 25$ a hr with time and a half after 40 , temp drivers are paid 2$ more a hour than us full time drivers.
Must be the on call 24/7 casual deal , and BTW the temp people send us some realy good retired hands.
