Covenant would probably be my choice out of the two. May Trucking has a terminal in Pensacola. That’s where I started. They’re a decent place to get some experience.
You’re not going to want to stay more than a year or at any of the “Training” companies.
Schneider or Covenant

Covenants not too bad for a starter company. That’ was my first outfit in 2012.
We did lots of coast to coast runs. The comment on the first post about them making drivers pay for chains was not true for us. They tried but we said no way Jose. You want chains on your truck you are buying em. And they did. Not once but twice lol. Good Luck wherever you decide.Rocks and DarkLordKitty Thank this. -
I think @MBAngel still runs for Covenant and may be able to answer your questions

I do still run for covenant. I could run on at the mouth for hours about why I love this company, but it boils down to the people. I adore our dispatch team. They will bend over backwards to keep us happy. They truly appreciate our willingness to do anything and drive our butts off. We are recognized from the top down. Company bosses know us and appreciate us. They listen to our suggestions, and implement some of them when possible. The company has an open door, email, and phone policy that means you can talk to any dept head any time you need to.
We just got the biggest pay raise in company history. Our trucks are 350k miles or less. We drive a brand new freightliner. The benefits are better than, or comparable to any company out there. They pay breakdown, detention, layover, and passed dot inspection bonuses. They have min pay. They pay for cleaning supplies for your truck and regular washes.
Yeah... I chose covenant over Schneider, and it was a great choice for me and hubby as a team. That's the only negative... if you don't want to drive team, there are only a few solo routes.slow.rider, LoSt_AgAiN, austinmike and 1 other person Thank this. -

Here is a Covenant story. Me and partner are Brand New. we get a message, live load. we had no clue what a live load was. So we asked Brand New dispatcher what a live load was. he didnt know either LOL - we didnt feel too bad.

Thank you to everyone for the advice, it does put our minds a little more at ease about joining Covenant!
We are the first in our families to be taking on this career, so any guidance helps a lot
There is another company we had considered.. If anyone knows about TransForce? Our instructor had spoken highly of them.. We did speak to Trans Force over the phone... They let us know that they didn't have team position available at the moment (they are currently working on opening new positions for teams). Also, they told us we would train separately but they would see what they could do... Any thoughts on them? -
