I run mine in the woods or on a job site. In a truck stop or a metro area---never.

Oh my. I read your story and thought maybe someone was recounting my story 3 years ago. Only saving grace for me, didn't get the tickets and I was working for a small business that didn't have all those sensors.

I jumped red lights in New York of all places. Luckily it was at night (2am). It was my first and last time to ever go there.

A couple of things that kept me from getting worse:
GOAL: I one time took two hours to get into a tight spot and my thighs hurt from getting in and out of that truck! Slept like a log after parking though.

Looking forward to your next problem, using google maps and ending up in residential areas with no truck turnarounds. Fun stuff. To avoid this nowadays I stay on the interstate or major roads unless am really sure of where am going.

Driving a truck is not an easy job to start with. People make mistakes, just go slower and count your wins, when you did something right instead of the times you messed up. When something goes wrong, analyze why and how you can do better next time. Ask for help when backing etc. and don't believe all the stories at the lunch counter.

also to add, if you're new I think it's better to run from 10pm~11am. You'll never deal with heavy traffic, always find parking and if you get lost on some road to a shipper, you will have an easier time navigating through it since nobody else is on the road. if a shipper takes 3-4 hrs to load or unload then you'll still be shutting down before 4PM. Works out perfectly.

    Sounds like a fun experience.
Don't be stressed about driving as many miles as possible once it gets to around 8:00 p.m. think of where you're going to stop because parking is hard. Definitely use Google maps to see where the docks are located at a customer. Many times the address you're given is for the front office not the truck docks which could be on a different street. Never park in reserved parking unless you paid for it download the app for the particular truck stop so you can reserve your own spot I get pissed when somebody is in my reserved spot.

...unless you're near New Jersey. Then start thinking about it by 2pm. Or even better, start thinking about it the day before.
