Trailer clearance lights out

Spent 30 or more minutes wiggling around in the lot trying to figure it out. Guy comes out back tells me that trucks have to drive out onto the road and back up from there. After a million tries I realize there's no way to square up to the dock plate. This is a tiny little ethnic foods place with a tiny lot. Guy confirms that the drivers just keep pushing back until the trailer gets close enough for the dock plate to mostly cover the gap.
This is their actual Standard Operating Procedure.
Horrible....absolutely Horrible

 

The truck is leased they penske and the trailer was bought used last fall and I've only brought it back a few times so it's never really been worked on by the owner or his dad the mechanic.
So. I'm not messing with the penske deal more than just swapping a fuse...we pay too much not to have them deal with their own property.
And I don't know trailer wiring to save my soul so I'd rather get them on it so any preexisting problems can be addressed effectively not fixing my 1/2 azzed attempts lol

 

I hope my mechanic has one. I saved the pigtail to hopefully put a new end on it? I don't know trucks but my DIY life has always had replacement ends for various stuff. It'd be an almost free spare under the bunk...but only if it works lol
