P.S. With ELDs early on I figured that drivers could get "harassed" for no reason, and cited for no fault of the driver (adverse driving conditions etc.). So drivers have to document more to cover their backs (take screenshots of the traffic on google) to prove the officer they were in traffic for example.Last edited: Apr 6, 2021

Yep guilty-until-proven-innocentTimin770 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Any cop that randomly knocks on a driver's door to do an inspection is a serious douche. And serious douche cops are not to be messed with don't listen to any driver here that says he would not have cooperated they may have cried but they would have cooperated trust me on that. I learned from this post that I'm just going to ignore any knocking and hope they don't smash the window but I will listen very carefully for any threats to smash the window and then wake up.
Timin770 Thanks this. -
Well that wasn’t right if you were sleeping and got woken up by a trooper. He has no sympathy of waking up sleeping truckers for a DOT inspection. Sorry you got charged but you should contact your company about this situation after you’re fully awake/alert.
Now that would irritate me. I would ask the officer, “Will you like if I came to your truck and wake you ### up for a #### DOT inspection?!? Please at least have some consideration for us?!?”
Hopefully I won’t get charged but shouldn’t for just talking for confronting a trooper for waking me up!! -
nredfor88, Trucker Carlton, p608 and 1 other person Thank this.

Has anyone thought about this. An Inspection is an On Duty status, their basically asking you to do On Duty status even though your clock says you have Zero hrs. Yes I know many say you have to restart your break and do another full break...I say hogwash. Sir your asking me to violate the law. Unless of course it's an emergency like the rest area or truck stops on fire
