Getting it on a deal. I have one concern tho. The floor has 2 plates welded to it. So some floor damage was present. Can these plates welded to the floor become an issue. ? Is this an acceptable repair ? If it’s not acceptable. What is the correct way to get this issue resolved? Will I have a problem getting the trailer loaded due to the welded plates on the floor?. The seller says that no frame damage is present (I will inspect this before I pay for it ). Thanks for the help ! 2F048658-FB39-4B9A-82A3-7EA11AC73225.jpeg

Do you have closer pics of the repair? I worked in reefer repair for quite some time, but hard to tell with that pic.

Cracked floors are the death of a reefer trailer. The extra cost in fuel from water logged floor insulation will exceed what you would pay (with good credit) for a new trailer payment and insurance.

You might be able to do ok if you only haul chill and it doesn't get too hot this summer. Frozen on the other hand, you'll be dumping $100 a day in fuel if we get a hot summer like the last few years.

I finally bought a new trailer last year, after running used stuff for years. It's putting $1500 a month in my pocket compared to the old one.

One caveat is that loaders don't care that you got a shiny new trailer and will beat the #### out of the inside. Sysco in Atlanta put holes in the floor of my new one when it was only two weeks old.

Yes, it's very common. In a fleet of around 1000 reefers I would say most had some weld repairs done in the floor. I would say the one you're showing pics of would prefer be the largest I've seen however. I agree with the other guy in some ways about it getting waterlogged, but if the repair was done by a competent welder it would likely be ok. But that repair again looks very large and from what I can see from the pic doesn't seem to be completely sealed. Work on getting better pics

@reeferwrencher I'm guessing by your handle you might have some knowledge of this sort of thing?

Okay. I asked for more pictures . Im hoping he is forthcoming. What could possibly be the worst case scenario with these welds ? Am I gonna have to dig the whole flooring up ? Lol

As long as they are no cracks in the structure and you are only hauling skidded freight it's fine. The ribbed floor is to allow air flow if you have a load hand bombed directly onto the floor which is common in container loads.Otherwise the skids themselves allow for return air flow.
