Bull****,cough,cough,bull****!!
Now if you had said that you were making only $300 a week, I would’ve found that more plausible than the so-called “$300 a week raise” that you’re slinging!! Even making $400-$500 a week after taxes would be more plausible but would be pushing it!!
And if you were crazy enough to fall for their fleece purchase, then you were set up to fail-especially if you were given a POS International ProStar with the “Maxxfarce” engine.
I stayed a company driver from the time I started to the day I left!

I'm told they don't hair test which makes them the obvious choice for me.
jeff18, JolliRoger, JoeyJunk and 2 others Thank this. -
I saw a lot of junk trucks at WE. I had a good Cascadia, and then got a brand new International. My pay without going home as a trainer was between $900 and $1800 a week. Never had a problem getting home. Always got layover pay. Never had a problem with lumper fees. My western express DM and I still talk more than a few times a year. Pre Covid I’d stop by for lunch. I had a good experience there for my first year of trucking.
Things i saw there that surprised me:
DM’s having to call and wake up some of their drivers virtually every morning. Drivers who never cared to be on time. Drivers who didn’t update their DM’s on the fitness of their tractor. Drivers who’d get stuck at the casino etc…and worse.
The type of drivers listed above seemed to get the #### freight since WE didn’t want Walmart, fedex, Amazon, UPS and Ashley furniture complaining. Those drivers ended up with short runs and not making much money. It was on them.
Im not saying WE is a great place. I’m saying it’s what you make of it as a place for new drivers.
Without being a trainer or teaming you wouldn’t make a lot.
Not to make this an add for Dave but I’ll say it again…I did a year and a day at Western and @Dave_in_AZ hired me, and LS approved me. Anyone not reaching out to Dave who can qualify for LS is not doing their due diligence.JolliRoger, Lonesome, Waterman_99 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Some of the trucks were junk(and the body shop at Nashville headquarters was VERY BUSY rebuilding them) but the trailers were even worse and Western Express lost a few accounts because of them(holes in the floorboards or sidewalls/railings,tandems that wouldn’t slide, axle hub leaks, landing gear seizures, trailers that would have major off-tracking,cardboard license plates). The list goes on and on. The most I made there was maybe $700-$800 a week, and would usually stay on the road 4-6 weeks so I could get 10 days of hometime, but when it came near hometime they ALWAYS would try to send you loads 200-300 miles (sometimes more)from where you were supposed to head home ON PURPOSE.

I went to pick up a empty trailer in Lebanon Oregon at a big DC. I learned to hop in and check them out.
There was a hole 1’ X 1’.
I laughed. Called my DM and grabbed a different trailer. I wasn’t going to sit there or drag that POS to get it fixed. I always kinda wondered what happened to that thing.JolliRoger and mjd4277 Thank this. -
And if you were sent to look for a trailer usually it was at a place where there would be 4-5 of them but the shipper would be “hoarding them” for loads or using them for storage (usually for storing pallets) and there were sometimes 2-3 other drivers in the same boat, looking for trailers at the same location!lolotterinthewater and JoeyJunk Thank this.

Fleece program must be bad. Saw a WE truck today was like there is an easy pass and he speeds up to 68. Must be sad being owner op struggling keep up pace with company driver after I caught up to you from a mile behind then want to speed up
jeff18 Thanks this. -
Right I had a friend of mine went to there orientation..And The truck they assigned him to had all sorts of issues that he couldn’t even take it off the terminal yard..Major air leak..busted spring etc. So he brought it too the shop and needless to say he sat for 3 days And they refused to to give him another vehicle..He quit without driving 1 mile for them
Unbelievable companyalds Thanks this. -
Me too! I went looking for the date it was posted. LOL

Am like no I have seen 3 statements from this year from WE and both under 40k gross. I had seen it was listed paid a driver 100,000 but I would love know is that company or o/o because I know of a swifty o/o makes almost 100k gross which is still bad but i cant knock a guy who likes it there i guess. anyways I have blocked them but they love appearing up on other numbers seems so its like wack mole game
