I just read where doing an oil analysis can let you go longer between oil changes. Anyone having any luck w/ this?

I don't use the analysis to extend my oil changes. I like to be aware of condition of my motor and I have an oil Spinner that removes soot from the oil.
There are a lot of truck owners that use the analysis to extend oil change intervals.
If I did extend oil change, I would still change oil filter at shorter interval.WizeWeelz and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I do - for above reasons. $12 for a test kit every 10,000 miles.
I change oil out at 20-30k, rarely lasts to 40k before base drops/acid rises. -

S60 - $15k overhaul, $300 oil change.
100 oil changes on 1,000,000 miles - at 10,000 intervals. $30,000 in oil.
33 oil changes - $10,000 in oil changes at 30 k intervals.
Over 7 years - a 20,000 savings $2,850/year is notable, but my bottom line reason is -
“Fuel dilution/soot/silicon(dirt) is abnormal - rectify and resample”
Any of the above can wipe out a motor in short order. The average “Every 10k, never sample “ driver, will fall victim to this at some stage.
Many operators are adept at spotting problems and rectifying before damage is caused. I’m not that smart. So $12 every 10k miles is VERY cheap insurance.
INSURANCE.
Not all insurance appears as a policy.WizeWeelz, MTN Boomer and xsetra Thank this. -
Not tech savvy but gimme 3 tries..blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
An oil analysis gives you vital information on what is being slushed around inside your engine. It's not a "I don't have to change my oil until this test says things are bad" analysis. That kind of mentality will turn skipping on $400 maintenance into $20K engine rebuilds real quick.
