I wouldn’t do it. You’re asking for trouble if you do. There’s nothing about milk that constitutes an emergency, especially “organic” milk. That crap has close to a 3 month shelf life.

From what I understand there is no need for a letter to begin with. You absolutely do run under PC when running exempt, how else would you do it on an elog? You put in notes that your running under exemption. You honestly could shut off your elog because you are exempt from any DOT logging rules at that time. It is definitely not to run a few hours here and there. It says right in the regulations that you can stay exempt from one load to the next and continue that way as long as you want, as long as your hauling exempt products. Not really sure where some of you guys are getting your info from.

You let it go into violation and annotate what you’re doing. DOT isn’t going to care if the computer thinks you’re in violation, he’s going to read them like paper and come to his own conclusions.

Not true, you must take a legal ten hour break after completing the one exempt load, you can't just do what you want....so not sure where you're getting your information but its wrong...

The only time you need a 10 hr break is when your coming off of the exemption. You can haul as many relief loads in a row that you want. While doing this your log doesn’t exist. Not sure where your getting your info. I got that right from FMCSA website. Where did you get yours?

I stopped getting involved with these conversations years ago. It’s like preaching to the choir. All I’ll say is you were correct.

It may say that but you're setting yourself up for possible issues or burning out, you still need some kind of break you cant just run for 24 hours.......

Not entirely correct, you do in fact need proof you're in fact running an essential load that falls under the exemption.....if no letter than you can't actually claim its essential just to run over the hours......DOT can still put you OOS...
