Ain’t that the #### truth but nah I run a LOT of county/state roads.
I actually take the way I did to keep from getting on a main highway.
That said I thinks it’s real Fing stupid to not post a warning about the bridge or the fact you can just keep going straight (14/17 curves) and hit the 4 lane and only ad a touch more miles and save some time.

Also maybe I’m just a prick but even if I didn’t know the bridge was ok to cross they have a big ### sign that says they’ll be tearing it down anyway lmao.

If the bridge span is short enough that only the tractor OR the tandems will be on the bridge at any given time I will cross... Provided the bridge looks to be built good and sturdy. This sometimes requires getting out and doing some closer investigation. And then I mark that route down on my "NO GO" list.

Most restrictions exempt local pickup and delivery.

Locally we have two of these bridges. One has been shut down twice in 3 years for repairs from the trucks going over it overloaded. Talk about a pain, you drive 4 miles up a road to find out you have to back up the same as the road is now closed. The other bridge may be removed completely since no one pays attention. Just last year we had the guy blow across the weighted bridge and it collapsed under him at 50MPH. He did not make it thru and lost the truck trailer and load.

Most of these you can go 15MPH over as posted. Others just are not rated for us. I have accidently crossed a few and got away with it. I also have detoured 120 miles because of an Arkansas bridge. Going down the 63 detouring to Pocahontas is one such. Go ahead and drive the short route, but if the trooper is there he and his buddies will help you remember it well. Attorney or not it will cost you dearly. Myself, I will avoid low rated bridges whenever I can. Whether it is the mayors mom living next to it or just an old bridge I do not need the hassle.

Technically I think every bridge on 14/17 is low-weight, except for the new ones close to Amagon.

Had a driver once who freaked out and decided he wasn’t going to drive over any of the local low-weight bridges; his career with us was surprisingly short.

Ran into a local road closed in Iowa last week, no signs untill you get to the spot that is closed. Years ago in Illinois, route 6 overpass over 55 had a weight restriction. And there were signs up, typical truck drivers would cross it anyway. And get caught.
